Vegas Swirls

My husband and I traveled to Vegas from California at the end of July to celebrate my 60th birthday. I had ordered a cake for my 50th from Freed's and wanted to experience that again. I chose this cake, revised it with my favorite colors (jade green, purple and medium red) and requested fresh strawberries in the middle. It was delivered to our hotel on time, and we had a fridge, so it kept nice and cool. The cake was delicious, and we enjoyed a few slices during our visit, but had to package up and take home. The cake kept very well during our 11 hours of driving (it was in a cooler sitting on ice and wrapped in foil).

Once we got home I put it in the freezer. At the end of August, we finished the rest! I would say the only slightly negative was that the red layer for the bottom had too much food coloring, so each time I tried to enjoy that icing, there a bitter after taste, so I had to skip eating the red buttercream. The other colors were fine, but overall it was beautiful. The "60" and the "chips" were not quite edible, but had a sweetness to them where we nibbled on a couple, saved for pictures, then disposed of those designs. I plan to order a cookie tin soon, and my husband wants the German Chocolate cake for next year's birthday, and I plan to order and have delivered to California!
