Writer Norman Kolpas Highlights Freed's

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, March 3, 1996 – Lifestyle writer Norman Kolpas produced an article for the March issue of Bon Appétit Magazine in which he praises the maturation of the Las Vegas dining scene.  He focused on the Chicago, Los Angeles, and New Orleans restaurants that have opened branches in Las Vegas (see: Morton’s, Spago, and Ruth’s Chris Steak House), but only Freed’s Bakery and the local coffee shop, Jitters, were Las Vegas originals that received attention.  Freed's was the only bakery highlighted in Mr. Kolpas's article and we here at Freed's appreciate the attention that he and his magazine gave to us.

Mr. Kolpas mentioned Freed's in the following paragraph: “For the past eight years, readers and editors of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Sun have voted this... establishment the best in town.  Buy a fresh pecan or cinnamon roll, or a hunk of one of their sheet-size coffee cakes and pull up a chair out front.  Relax for a while, and feel free to gloat over the soon-to-be-dyspeptic crowds on the Strip, who are out there piling plates high with all-you-can-eat breakfasts.”

Freed’s Bakery has served the Las Vegas area for the past 49 years, and has been featured on such shows as The Food Network’s “Roker on the Road,” “$40 a Day with Rachael Ray,” “Sugar Rush,” and “After Midnight.”  Freed’s has also been featured on Lifetime’s “Top This Party,” Hawaiian Airlines’ “The Best of Las Vegas,” and “Las Vegas Live.”  Freed’s has been featured in Bon Appétit, Martha Stewart Weddings, People’s Amazing Real Life Weddings, and Conde Nast Traveler.  Freed’s has been voted Best of Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Reader’s Choice for the last 26 years, and has been recognized by AOL City’s Best and The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2007.
